Campers will learn about the natural history of Interior Alaska through engaging activities, games, hikes, projects, and guest speakers. They will explore the natural world through themes such as plants, animals, birds, fish, habitats, people and the environment.

*Youth enrolled in Water Striders and Refuge Adventurers will go on an overnight campout on the Thursday night of their camp session.

What is Camp Habitat?

Every summer since 1990, local children have enjoyed guided explorations of the forests, fields, ponds and other wetlands at Creamer's Field during Camp Habitat. Through sensory exploration, discovery hikes, ecology-themed games, songs and creative craft projects, and growing food in the Creamer's Garden, campers learn about the ecosystems of interior Alaska and discover what makes where they live special!

All sessions are taught by skilled instructors and assisted by junior counselors. Instructor to student ratios average about 8:2 for pre-school programs and 10:2 for older children. Curricula are designed to be developmentally appropriate.
